What We Do
Over the last 37 years, Chears & Associates has worked in diverse markets primarily focusing on developing solutions for the leaders of nonprofits, philanthropies, and small businesses. We enter each working relationship with an open mind paying close attention to the unique cultural dynamics that make up the DNA of the organization and its people. We commit to learning what’s important to the client so we can support the change we’re there to help facilitate. To do this, we ask a lot of questions and listen rather than prescribe cookie-cutter solutions. Using the fundamentals of Grounded Emergence, we assess the needs of stakeholders; assist in the development of workable solutions; honor the humanity in everyone; create safe spaces where connection and mutuality can be achieved; and work collaboratively to fulfill mission, objectives, and goals.
What is Grounded Emergence?
The premise of two distinct, but aligned, research methodologies – Emergent Design and Grounded Theory, is that preconception is a limiting factor for effective problem solving and decision making. Those theories eschew the notion that one person has the answers.
Grounded Emergence builds on those theories by prizing listening to bring out the infinite intelligence that emanates from each person’s lived experiences and perspectives. Through that listening and subsequent questioning process, what emerges is space where the individual and/or team can “turn to wonder” and discover new possibilities – grounded in the inherent wisdom that was waiting for a catalyzing nudge. That’s where we come in – We facilitate that nudge.
Victor E. Chears, EdD
I am a values-driven leader who is results-oriented. In every situation I bring humility, empathy, and humor always seeking to look beyond appearances and rhetoric. Over the years I have earned the titles of trusted advisor, confidant, collaborator, mentor, problem solver, and strategist. If we’re working together, I’m all in. I am highly adept at effectively communicating and collaborating with a diverse array of stakeholders in ways that help increase awareness, bridge perspectives and attitudes, influence outcomes, and lead to goal fulfillment.
My doctorate in Education comes from Fielding Graduate University. My dissertation research led to the development of a theory entitled “Taking A Stand For Others” – an advanced model for mentoring, being in relationship, and increasing the capacities of others. My undergraduate degree is from Yale University
